Every listing in this category leads with a big PPB number, and the number is usually real. On its own it also tells you very little, because the same bottle will show a different figure depending on how long you let it run. That single fact changes how the whole category should be compared.
QUICK ANSWER
Start with how much water you drink in one sitting, then check what concentration a model reaches and after how many minutes, then check battery capacity for how many cycles you need between charges. A higher PPB headline is not a better bottle unless the runtime sits beside it.
01 The PPB Figure Needs a Time Next To It
One model from this range makes the point better than any comparison. The BJL-HW07 is rated 4000 ppb after a five minute cycle and 8000 ppb after ten. Same bottle, same water, same electrode. The only thing that changed is how long you let it run, and the number doubled.
Nothing in that is a trick. It also means a listing can quote 4000 or 8000 and be accurate either way, so a shopper comparing two brands may be comparing a five minute figure against a ten minute one without knowing it. When you read a listing, look for the number and the minutes together. Where the minutes are missing, ask the seller.
02 Why the Biggest Bottle Reads Lowest
Two models from different sizes tell the story of this range. The 235 ml BJL-HW01 is rated 3000 ppb at five minutes and 5000 at ten. The 400 ml BJL-HW07 is rated 4000 at five minutes and 8000 at ten. Then the 750 ml BJL-HW08 is rated 2000 to 3000 at ten minutes, reaching 3000 to 4000 only at twenty. The 2000 ml pitcher sits at about 2000 ppb.
Read along that line and the rated concentration falls as the bottle grows, while the cycle gets longer. The sensible reading is that the same generating capacity is spread across more water, so each millilitre carries less and the unit runs longer to compensate. Those are the rated values each specification sheet states, and none promises the same concentration at every size.
03 Match the Size to Where You Drink
208 to 235 ml is roughly one glass. That goes in a coat pocket and empties in a few minutes, which suits a single serve at a desk or after training. 300 to 400 ml covers a longer sitting and is the middle of this range. From 750 ml up to the 2000 ml pitcher you are preparing for a shared table or a full day, and those models need a bag rather than a pocket.
Weigh one before you decide. The 235 ml model is 358 g empty and the 350 ml model 410 g, before any water goes in. Once filled, a 750 ml bottle is a bag item whatever the product photos suggest.
04 Battery, Material, and What Wears Out
Battery capacity decides how many cycles you get between charges, and this range spans widely. The 350 ml BJL-HW06 is 1800 mAh. The BJL-HW01 through HW05 and the BJL-15 are all 2200 mAh. The 400 ml BJL-HW07 and BJL-17 step up to 4000 mAh, and the pitcher carries 9000 mAh. Two cycles a day on an 1800 mAh cell means charging far more often than the same habit on a 4000 mAh one.
Materials show their differences after months rather than days. The body on most of this range is food-grade PC with an aluminium shell, stated on BJL-HW01 through HW05, BJL-HW07 and the pitcher. Two models depart from that: the BJL-HW08 uses a 316 stainless steel liner, and the BJL-15, BJL-16 and BJL-17 are listed as alumina with PC, the BJL-17 with borosilicate glass as an option. Separately from the body, the electrode is worth comparing on its own: the BJL-HW01 and BJL-HW08 state six layers of platinum titanium, while the BJL-HW06 states a platinum-plated titanium electrode.
05 Two Questions Worth Asking Before You Buy
First: what concentration does this exact model reach, and after how many minutes? Second: does this exact model carry the certification for the country you are buying in? On this range CE, RoHS and FCC appear on the specification pages for BJL-HW04 through BJL-HW08. Where a page does not list certification, ask the seller for the documents for your country rather than assuming either way. The model number is what you check, not the brand, because two bottles from the same maker can differ here.
Three more cost nothing to ask: whether the electrode is replaceable, what the cleaning routine is, and how many cycles one charge actually gives at the cycle length you will use. A model with a stated backwash function, such as the BJL-HW08 or the touch-screen BJL-16, is easier to keep clean over time.
Next Step
If you are weighing two models, send us the model numbers and we will send the specs side by side so the figures can be compared directly. Tell us how many people will be using it and how often, and we will point to the size that fits.
